American Magic Sailors Shine at Pensacola Foiling Week 2025
American Magic sailors delivered a commanding performance at Pensacola Foiling Week 2025, with five athletes securing top finishes in the highly competitive Moth fleet. Notably, every race was won by an American Magic sailor, with Riley Gibbs leading the way, claiming five race wins en route to overall victory. His consistency and tactical precision secured the title.
Right behind him, Ben Rosenberg (American Magic Youth) finished second overall, showcasing his skill and ability to be the front in a world-class fleet. Henry Melges (American Magic Youth) completed the podium in third, overcoming a few setbacks to demonstrate his potential as one of the most exciting young foiling sailors in the country.
Lucas Calabrese (sixth) and Ripley Shelley (eighth) delivered steady and competitive performances, rounding out a strong showing for the team.
Foiling Week continues to be a proving ground for the next generation of high-performance sailors, and American Magic athletes remain at the forefront of the sport.
"Foiling Week here in Pensacola was phenomenal... you can feel the Southern hospitality. The city has been welcoming to all of us, we've had great weather, and we look forward to returning," said Gibbs.
A Vision for the Future
Foiling Week also featured a keynote address from Terry Hutchinson, President of Sailing Operations at American Magic, who spoke about the team’s mission to inspire American pride and unity in sailing, engage the next generation, and position the U.S. as a leader in foiling innovation. He also highlighted American Magic’s commitment to developing the Pensacola Performance Center, a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to advancing high-performance sailing and technology in the United States.
“Seeing these sailors excel in Pensacola is a testament to the hard work and dedication behind American Magic’s vision,” said Hutchinson. “Foiling Week showcases the best of high-performance sailing, and the team is proud to be part of that future.”
