The first Preliminary Regatta of the 37th America's Cup to be hosted in Vilanova i la Geltrú.

It has been announced that the first Preliminary Regatta of the 37th America's Cup will take place in the historic Catalonian port of Vilanova i la Geltrú. The event will feature four days of racing from 14th to 17th September 2023 and will showcase the exhilarating new foiling class - the AC40.
Vilanova i la Geltrú, situated just 45 kilometers down the coast from the Host Venue of the America's Cup, Barcelona, will proudly represent the region of Catalonia and Spain as the starting point of the 37th America's Cup cycle. The racing event will feature a mix of fleet and match-racing, with all six confirmed entries for the America's Cup represented. The racing will take place outside the port entrance, which provides a perfect viewing gallery and ample fan engagement opportunities.
NYYC American Magic President of Sailing Operations/Skipper, Terry Hutchinson, said, “NYYC American Magic is excited to go racing. While in a one-design mode, the AC40 is reminiscent of the AC45; it is an opportunity to measure our racing skills against the other teams. Any competition is good competition, and we look forward to getting into it!”
